The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army said today, Tuesday, that the torrential rains swept away a military vehicle during the official duty of a border guard unit affiliated to the southern military region in Wadi Araba while inspecting posts at the border front.
An official military source in the General Command explained, according to local media, that the sudden torrential rains swept away the vehicle, and inside it was the official and driver of the vehicle.
According to the Jordanian Al-Rai newspaper, search operations are continuing in southern Jordan in order to find First Lieutenant Muthanna Mufleh Al-Shugairat, who was inside the vehicle.
The source added that the search, inspection and rescue groups supported by aircraft from the Royal Air Force and the Civil Defense were unable to reach the location of the vehicle, due to the difficult terrain and the heavy rain, as they combed the area on foot, and the search and inspection operations until this moment resulted in finding the vehicle and its driver.
The source confirmed, according to the Jordanian newspaper Al-Rai, that the search and inspection operations are continuing to search for the patrol official, stressing that it will provide information as soon as it is received, after confirming the developments of events on the ground, indicating that the Jordanian Armed Forces are the only source of news related to it.
