Dozens of houses were destroyed in the fire in the eastern coastal parts of Seoul. According to Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-tae and the Ministry of Internal Security, more than 700 firefighters and 300 fire engines were dispatched to douse the blaze that started on a hill in the central part of Gangneung.
According to the ministry, the fire spread rapidly due to strong wind and around 44 houses were gutted and destroyed. The ministry said that more than 300 residents were evacuated from the fire-affected areas. The ministry said that there was no report of any casualty in the fire. Further, the ministry said that at present it is difficult to tell anything about the time taken to control the fire as it has become difficult to deploy the aircraft due to strong winds.
