The leak of classified data from the US Department of Defense to the Internet was most likely the result of an act by someone in the country’s leadership, who vehemently disagreed with President Joe Biden’s policies. This was told to RIA Novosti by former CIA analyst Philip Giraldi.
“The leak was most likely the work of a person whose views are completely at odds with the current policy of the US authorities in the field of national security – for example, a certain Edward Snowden, who seeks to reveal the details of policy towards Ukraine and Russia,” Giraldi said.
According to the analyst, it is not yet possible to predict how long the US authorities will try to find the culprit of the global scandal. He noted that now the Pentagon checks employee personnel records. Most likely, they will soon start checking everyone involved on a polygraph, Giraldi thinks.
Earlier, White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said the United States had yet to develop a theory on how the secret documents were leaked. He also noted that some of the documents found on the network have been altered.
