A powerful eruption of the Shiveluch volcano took place in Kamchatka early this morning. According to preliminary calculations of scientists, the height of the ash cloud was 15-20 kilometers.
The sky within a radius of several tens of kilometers from the volcano, including above the villages of Klyuchi and Kozyrevsk in the Ust-Kamchatsky region, was covered with an ash cloud.
Thunder rumbles due to electrostatic stress in the ash cloud. Ashfall started in Klyuchi and in the village of Maiskoye. According to volcanologists, the current situation will last for several more hours.
“Due to what is happening in educational institutions of the Ust-Kamchatsky region, work was suspended today. All residents are advised not to leave their homes without special need,” Solodov noted on his Telegram channel.
Previously, the head of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, visited the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic on a humanitarian mission. He, together with the delegation of the government of the region, handed over to the Marines an assistance package – equipment and materials that the NVO zone urgently needs.
