If the holy fire does not descend in the temple in Jerusalem, then there will be no end of the world, says the minister of the church. According to Archpriest Pavel Velikanov, this is a myth that has no church-wide confirmation.
At the same time, the priest makes a reservation: his opinion is not the ultimate truth, but a private theological judgment. Because the sacred fire is not a symbol of the pursuit of human life, but a sign of God’s blessing.
It is a wonderful illustration of where Jesus Christ was resurrected. According to the Archpriest, the Sacred Fire “enters our soul and drives out all darkness”.
“It is important to focus on the symbolism of the Holy Fire, and not on any particular magical action, because a magical action is always mechanistic, it cannot fail,” the priest summed up.
Easter is celebrated on April 16 this year. The day before, the 15th, in the main temple of Jerusalem, believers await the descent of the blessed fire. According to information from open sources, he did not descend in 1101, 1579 and in 1923.
