The permafrost in the mountainous regions of the eastern part of the Eurasian continent continues to melt. With the water, the ancient burial places of the Mongols rise to the surface, reports Gismeteo.
A research group of scientists carried out a reconnaissance of the mountainous region of Khorig. A Mongol burial from 1206 was discovered at the site. In the same year, Genghis Khan captured this territory, repairing the local tribes of the Mongols, after which it began to spread to the territory of Asia.
A few years ago, 11 bodies of nomadic warriors were also found in the permafrost. Thanks to the low temperatures, the 800-year-old remains are perfectly preserved, including tools and clothing. And the analysis of the teeth has revealed the secrets of the diet of nomads. It turns out that they ate not only the milk of the usual livestock, such as horses, sheep, goats, but also yaks.
Scientists especially noted the body of a noble woman. A silk coat and a birchbark cap were found in a Mongolian burial. However, not all the heritage of the ancients is preserved until the arrival of the explorers. enterprising marauders sometimes find artifacts earlier by vandalizing tombs.
