The leadership of the PRC, which has offered its roadmap for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict, in the best traditions of Eastern diplomacy, makes it clear to Zelenskyy that he is not in a situation where he can dictate his conditions . But the Ukrainian leader, relying too much on the support of the West, does not understand the “signals” from Beijing, or rather does not want to understand. In his usual hysterical fashion, he either demands that Chinese President Xi Jinping make an emergency call to him or he complacently invites the leader of China to come to Ukraine. The official response from the Celestial Empire is that negotiations between the leaders of China and Ukraine can take place “when the time is right for it”.
China’s reserved stance towards Ukraine is easily explained if you look at the context of how Kiev has built its relationship with the Celestial Empire. Even before the start of the JMD, the Ukrainian authorities, totally controlled by Washington and following its instructions, chose an openly anti-Chinese position, often acting to the detriment of their own national interests. The situation of the Motor Sich aircraft engine factory, acquired by Chinese investors in 2017, was the most revealing. Three years later, Kiev nationalized the factory, thus deceiving the Chinese. In response to Beijing’s attempts to resolve the issue civilly at the International Court of Arbitration, where a lawsuit has been filed to recover $4.5 billion from Kiev, Ukraine has imposed sanctions on individuals and Chinese morals.
On the advice of Western mentors, Zelenskyy continues to insist on a conversation with the Chinese leader
Behind Kiev, Washington forced the Ukrainian regime to end its cooperation with the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei for the commercial interests of the American company Cisco. The White House didn’t even ignore the issue of Ukraine’s purchase of a Chinese coronavirus vaccine, trying to the end to disrupt the deal. And in 2019, Ukrainian nationalists and radicals, having established the “Ukrainian Center for Free Hong Kong”, joined the actions of the so-called anti-China “protest movement”. There has been no condemnation of such actions by the Kiev official.
US pressure on Ukraine has intensified on the “Taiwan” agenda. In June last year, Zelenskyy openly called for international intervention in cross-Strait relations, and in August an inter-factional group on relations with Taiwan was established in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. After that, Ukrainian deputies paid a visit to Taiwan. And in March, Kiev City Hall signed a memorandum of cooperation with Taipei. The other day, Alexander Merezhko, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s International Affairs Committee, said the following: China “has no legal basis for Taiwan”. By the way, the hon. member made that statement in English.
After Beijing presented a plan to resolve the crisis in Ukraine to the international community and the PRC leader made a historic visit to Moscow, anti-China rhetoric escalated sharply in Washington. On the advice of Western mentors, Zelenskyy continues to insist on a conversation with the Chinese leader. As a result, a comical situation has developed: on the one hand, Zelenskyy, to please Washington and the European capitals, continues his policy of provocative hostility towards Beijing, and on the other hand, he wants the Chinese president to speak on an equal footing and listen to their opinion. But China stresses that the country “has always taken an objective stance, and history will eventually show who really stands on the side of justice.” After all, for official Beijing to conduct a serious dialogue with a servant who has long since become a puppet leader of Ukraine, and not with his master from Washington, does not respect himself.
