Eltihrellir made her life hell – Was shocked when she found out the truth

Model and beauty queen Dr. Deshauna Barber talks about her nightmarish life experiences and how she managed to escape a stalking spree that wasn’t all she was seen in.

Deshauna was Miss USA in 2016 and tells the whole story on the podcast relationship blow .

Gave him a chance

“A few years ago, I met a man on Instagram,” she says, adding that the man had messaged her every year for the past five or six years, but she never replied.

“I was single at the time when I decided to finally give the guy a shot.”

She says they went on a really fun date and then started dating. It was soon his birthday and he wanted to celebrate it in Dubai and Deshauna accompanied him. “Four days after we arrived in Dubai, we had a heated argument (…) and it was obvious that he had anger issues,” she says.

Deshauna says they took an Uber taxi to the AirBnB place they were renting. In the car, he attacked her and strangled her. He didn’t stop when they entered the apartment. “I told him to stop but he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder and walked towards the bedroom. I thought he was going to rape me and I managed to call my sister When he heard I was calling, he let go of me and locked himself in the bathroom,” Deshauna recounts. She caught up with the watching security guards as she gathered her things. The next day, she flew to Chicago, but she had no idea the nightmare was about to begin.

Started to scare her

Deshauna says the man started harassing her, calling her several times a day, stalking her and sending her tons of messages.

“He showed up in front of my house. I feared for my life, he was completely crazy,” she says.

“He stalked me for the next four to five months. Then I met my boyfriend, let’s call him Marcus.”

Shortly after they started dating, they started living together. “I wanted to live with him, because firstly I was stupid, and secondly because I was scared of the guy from Dubai. He kept calling me and coming to my house,” Deshauna says.

She moved from Chicago to Virginia where Marcus lived.

“I noticed that Marcus was very angry, he was very violent, hitting the walls and throwing things. It was very bad. Several times he physically attacked me,” she says.

“But I was mostly worried about the man from Dubai. I didn’t want to live alone.”

Finally changed phone number

Deshauna says she finally decided to change her phone number because the guy from Dubai didn’t seem to want to give up.

“For a few months I didn’t hear from him,” she said, adding that Marcus, her boyfriend at the time, knew about the harassment.

“He assured me that I was safe with him, that he would protect me and watch over me. But at the same time, he was brutal with me,”

Marcus was in the military and was sent to Hawaii. She decided to move with him because she could work remotely.

But the Dubai man always seemed to find his new phone number. She says she has changed her phone number at least ten times in a year.

“It was really bad,” she says.

His sister was next

Deshauna tried to sell her phone and get a new phone registered in her sister’s name. “Then all of a sudden she started getting messages and phone calls. Sometimes I was somewhere with Marcus and I would get a call, and then maybe five people had my new phone number, then it was the chase: ‘I know where you are, I know you’re at Target and on that boardwalk.'”

“I was getting 10-15 calls a day and even more messages, my sister too and it was very ugly and disgusting messages, for several months.”

A dream was the beginning of the end

Around this time, Deshaunu started having the same dream over and over again; that Marcus was getting ready for work and looked like himself, but his shadow had devil horns.

Another dream about Marcus and his deceased mother caused her to go through her phone.

“That night, I checked his phone while he was sleeping. And what I found on that phone was so crazy I can’t put it into words,” she says.

“Let’s start with the fact that he had been in contact with a number of prostitutes (…) he also had access to the dating app Plenty of Fish. He also sent a lot of inappropriate messages to women in the military But that wasn’t the worst, I didn’t even start.

Prostitutes and adultery, disagree. But then I noticed a weird app called TextMeNow. I opened the app and saw all these messages sent to two numbers. My phone number and my sister’s.”

It was like someone threw a bucket of ice cream at Deshauna when she realized Marcus was her stalker and at some point the guy from Dubai gave up and Marcus took full control.
Today, Deshauna is happily engaged.

I got help from a friend

“I saw on another show a conversation between him and his friend, where he was telling his friend to call me, ‘We’re at Target, call her and tell her you know where she is.'” His friend always said, ‘Yeah, no problem. It’ll be fine.'”

“They made my life unbearable for an entire year,” she says.

“He was someone I loved, someone I trusted. I cried in front of him because of the harassment and he comforted me. Finding out it was him this whole time was terrifying. ”

Deshauna has ended the relationship and hopes her story will serve as a warning to others. She says it took her a long time to realize that choosing a partner can often mean life or death, or safety and danger, and that women are particularly at risk of being abused. by a partner.
