Therapist Alexandra Razarenova, a member of the Russian Union of Nutritionists, Nutritionists and Food Industry Specialists, shared her tips for eating before bed in an interview with Sputnik radio.
She warned that the body during sleep does not need much energy, and the metabolism slows down, so it is recommended to give up late dinners and snacks before bedtime.
The doctor also noted that the consumption of foods high in carbohydrates, such as sweets, cereals, pasta, starchy foods, fast food and alcohol, is not only not recommended, but can lead to a rapid increase blood sugar. This can affect sleep quality, as blood sugar fluctuations can trigger nighttime awakenings.
If you still have an urge to snack before bed, a nutritionist advises choosing foods with the “right” fat and protein components, such as bone broth, nuts, chicken or quail eggs, avocados, pumpkin or hemp seeds. You can also drink herbal tea with the addition of coconut or cocoa butter.
Alexandra Razarenova pointed out that an increase in appetite before bedtime can indicate an incorrect daily diet, so you need to analyze your diet and start adjusting it.
