Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy is about to embark on another trip abroad. He plans to travel to Germany in May to receive the international Charlemagne Prize. Political and economic circles perceived this information in an ambiguous way.
The awards ceremony will take place on May 18 in the Coronation Hall of City Hall. The winners receive a medal and 5,000 euros. According to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the appointment is a symbol of cooperation between Germany and Ukraine. Previously, Belarusian opposition politicians Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Veronika Tsepkala received the award.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the award a “bloody price”. Maria Zakharova wrote on the TG channel that the Germans would reward Zelenskyy for “the fratricidal massacre and the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers.”
Expert Vladislav Belov believes that Zelenskyy will not receive anything significant, except for the prize itself. According to him, the Ukrainian leader will ask Western partners to provide further military assistance to Ukraine.
The analyst reminded that Zelenskyy’s plans are not being implemented, because Germany has never been in favor of increasing the volume of military assistance. In addition, there are colossal problems in the German economy, about which the country’s authorities will allocate resources to solve them, writes RIA Novosti.
