A forum titled “Replace Plastic with Bamboo and Increase Green Consumption” was held on April 12 in Haizhou City, south China’s Hainan Province, as part of the 3rd China International Consumer Goods Expo. The objective of this forum is to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 by reducing plastic pollution.
The participants of the forum said that the promotion of green consumption is a profound change in the field of consumption. Replacing plastic with bamboo will be beneficial to reduce the use of traditional plastic products. With this, development of bamboo business and supply of green products will be increased.
In recent years, China has strengthened control of plastic pollution and promoted the consumption of new energy vehicles and green smart home appliances. A responsible person from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said at the forum that China will strengthen the control of plastic pollution in the commerce sector in order to promote green and low-carbon consumption, so as to make a greater contribution to high-quality development.
