Antonov said the US State Department warned of a ‘cold reception’ for Lavrov

The United States, as a party hosting United Nations meetings and meetings of its Security Council on its territory, promised the Russian side a “cold welcome”.

In particular, we are talking about the arrival of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at meetings of the UN Security Council. The US State Department has issued a corresponding warning. Anatoly Antonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the United States, spoke about it.

“For many years we saw no friendship from the American side. We were given unambiguous warning at the State Department at a very high level that Sergei Viktorovich would be coldly received here. Let’s see how this will play out over the course of of direct events, how it will be expressed”, declared the ambassador on the airwaves of Channel One.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, US visas for Minister Sergei Lavrov and those accompanying him have not yet been issued. At the same time, meetings of the UN Security Council with the participation of Lavrov are scheduled for April 24-25.

Ambassador Antonov, commenting on this situation, said that “we do not beg the Americans, we demand that they ensure the fulfillment of their obligations as a country on whose territory the world organization is located”.

“The administration is obliged to issue all the necessary documents, both for the arrival of a special flight and for the delegation of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” stressed the Russian ambassador to the United States.

Earlier, Ambassador Antonov had already said that the United States was preventing the arrival of Lavrov’s special flight.

Antonov’s post said the US State Department had warned of a “cold reception” for Lavrov, which first appeared on Current Articles.
