An education pioneer from Qatar Foundation, the first in Qatar, and only the second in the Gulf region, to be selected to join a prestigious international fellowship programme. Hend Zainal, Executive Director of Management, Strategy and Partnerships in the Higher Education Sector at Qatar Foundation, has been accepted into the American Council on Education Fellowship Program, a one-year high-level leadership development program aimed at developing knowledge and skills, as well as enhancing communication between participants and senior higher education leaders around the world This contributes to preparing participants to perform leadership roles in higher education. The program is administered by the American Council on Education, the leading comprehensive higher education organization in the United States of America. Founded 58 years ago, the program has prepared more than 2,500 emerging higher education leaders, based on a rigorous selection process. The American Council on Education fellowship participates in the one-year leadership development program. Of the 36 ACE Fellows selected for the 2023-2024 academic year, Zainal, an alumna of two QF partner universities, is the only one from outside the United States. “I am delighted to have been selected to be a part of this world-renowned fellowship program, and I appreciate the support of those who have recommended me to be a fellow of the American Council on Education,” she says.
