The Hungarian Parliament will approve an agreement on Sweden’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). This was announced by the leader of the faction of the ruling party “FIDES – Hungarian Civil Union” Mate Kocsis.
Moreover, the ratification of the agreement will take place before the NATO summit in Vilnius.
However, Kocis did not specify a specific date for the vote. According to him, the FIDES deputies, as well as the Hungarian government, are in favor of Sweden joining NATO, but they have a number of doubts as to the policy of this State.
“Everyone has the right to doubt. There are also security and political issues. For example, many have suggested that in recent years Swedish and Finnish politicians and government officials have regularly slandered Hungary, made false accusations against us, spread offensive lies about us and even demanded the blocking of funds from the EU. ‘EU,’ the politician said in an interview. with Mander.
Kocis concluded that Sweden’s application for NATO membership would help clarify these points.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that Sweden would join NATO by July. The White House expressed confidence that the country’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance will take place in the near future.
