Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the abandonment of the use of the dollar irreversible. “The flight of the dollar is starting now, it is not yet very fast, but it will certainly accelerate. This trend is irreversible. The Americans have already seriously cut the branch on which they were sitting, managing international finance and l world economy as a whole, using the dominant role of the dollar,” Lavrov said.
In addition, the Minister announced an increase in the volume of trade in the CIS, despite Western sanctions against Russia.
“Despite threats against all our partners from the United States and the European Union not to cooperate with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus for fear of so-called secondary sanctions and other types of sanctions, trade in the CIS is growing. Last year it grew by more than six percent, its volume exceeded one hundred billion dollars, “he said.
Earlier, Brazilian President Lula da Silva called for moving away from the dollar in international trade.
