PM: Inauguration of new facilities will strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Assam and the entire Northeast

Guwahati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said opening of new facilities like All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati and medical colleges will strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Assam and the entire Northeast. He said that his government has done nine years of hard work in the past to ensure radical improvements in social infrastructure in the Northeast.

Speaking at a function to dedicate to the nation the first AIIMS in the Northeast built at a cost of Rs 1,123 crore, the Prime Minister said, “Earlier the Northeast was too far away for governments…we dedicated ourselves to bring Is.” Nearly.” He said at a function organized at the AIIMS, Guwahati campus that there has been a lot of improvement in the social infrastructure in the Northeast in the last nine years.

Attacking the opposition, Modi said, “We base our policies on countrymen first…(but) the opposition is credit-hungry and these people are destroying the country.” “We work with the spirit of ‘service to the people’. Along with AIIMS, Guwahati, Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College and Kokrajhar Medical College are also dedicated to the nation,” he said.

These three colleges have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 615 crore, Rs 600 crore and Rs 535 crore respectively. Each of these medical colleges has attached 500 bedded teaching hospital with OPD and IPD services including emergency services, ICU facilities, OT and diagnostic facilities etc. Each medical college will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students. Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Guwahati hospital in May 2017. Built at a total cost of over Rs 1123 crore, AIIMS Guwahati is a state-of-the-art hospital with 750 beds including 30 AYUSH beds. This hospital will have an annual admission capacity of 100 MBBS students every year. This hospital will provide world class healthcare facilities to the people of the North East.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister formally launched the ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to three representative beneficiaries. After this, around 1.1 crore AB-PMJAY cards will be distributed in all the districts of the state. Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII). Most of the technologies used in healthcare in the country are imported and developed in a different context, which were too expensive and complex to operate in the Indian environment.

AAHII has been conceived keeping these contexts in mind and the institute will work with the approach of ‘we will solve our own problems’. AAHII is to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 546 crore. It will facilitate cutting-edge inventions and research and development in the field of medicine and healthcare, identify unique healthcare problems of the country and promote the development of new technologies to solve those problems.Earlier, the Governor of Assam Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma received Prime Minister Modi at the airport after his arrival in Guwahati on a day-long visit on Friday, the first day of the spring festival ‘Rongali Bihu’.
