The Russian Pacific Fleet was put on full-force alert in a sudden inspection and brought to the highest level of readiness. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, transmits CASS.
Part of the Aerospace Forces, military units and support units are also involved in a surprise check.
Shoigu instructed to involve long-range aviation in the inspection and check the status of coastal troops. Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, was appointed Chief Inspector.
Shoigu called the purpose of the measures “to increase the ability of the armed forces to solve the tasks of repelling the aggression of a potential enemy from the ocean and the sea”.
Conditions of “immediate threat of aggression”
During the check, the Pacific Fleet will quickly prepare for hostilities and conduct an operational deployment, Shoigu said. The army will have to “repel missiles and massive air strikes, conduct exercises to search and destroy submarines, carry out torpedoes, artillery fire and missile launches during the defeat of naval strike groups and ground targets of a false enemy”.
To test the Pacific Fleet, conditions were created for an immediate threat of aggression, said Valery Gerasimov, Russian Chief of Staff. According to him, it is necessary to create conditions that “correspond as much as possible to the content and nature of modern armed struggle”.
The verification will take place in three stages:
At first, the Pacific Fleet will be put on full alert, Gerasimov said. Forces and troops will prepare for drills and control drills, as well as combat drills. In the second stage, the military will work on issues of combat stability of underwater missile carriers. Mobile Radar Stations (RLS) will be deployed in new positioning areas. Gerasimov asked to pay special attention to the rapid deployment of naval forces in the areas of forming groups and building air defense combat warning forces. He was instructed to take special control over the readiness of strategic missile submarines to use weapons. The third stage of sudden verification will be to work out combat training tasks.
According to Shoigu, surprise inspections are carried out on the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to “evaluate the state and improve the readiness of military command and control bodies, troops and forces to solve problems”.
