The Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media has prepared a draft decree on the introduction of a digital passport. The text of the document is published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.
The project also proposes to assimilate the presentation of identity documents using the “Gosuslugi” application to the presentation of their originals.
“Establishing that the submission by a citizen of the Russian Federation of information in electronic form from identity documents or other documents issued to a citizen by state bodies using the mobile application of the system of Federal state information “Unified portal of state and municipal services (Functions)” is equivalent to the presentation of these documents in cases determined by the Government of the Russian Federation, “says the draft decree.
Recall that on March 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government, together with the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Ministry of the Interior, to prepare a draft decree on the use of a card of Russian digital identity. According to Arseny Poyarkov, a member of the State Duma Expert Council on the Digital Economy, digital passports are much more reliable in terms of protection against fraudsters.
