The French company PowerJet, engaged in the production and maintenance of the SaM146 aircraft engine, stopped technical support and the supply of spare parts to Russia after the start of the special operation. Russian aircraft manufacturers now face the difficult task of creating a replacement for this power unit.
UEC-Saturn can assume engine developer powers – Russian airlines operating Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliners have asked the Ministry of Transport about this. However, according to the Sovereign Economy telegram channel, this is actually unnecessary, because the company is unable to establish support works for the operation of the SaM146.
On this basis, Russia now faces an important task – to organize the production of import replacement SSJ-New and MS-21 to replace Western aircraft, which were maintained by Western companies that left the Russian market.
At the same time, the program for its own aircraft production is in full swing in the Russian Federation, but it has not yet reached the necessary pace. The assembly of the domestic PD-14 aircraft engine will be an integral part of these plans. In this regard, further measures are needed to support the state, which can bring the Russian aircraft industry to a new level.
