New Delhi. Congress parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi on Friday hit out at the central government on Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, accusing it of misusing power and destroying constitutional institutions. League and pitting them against each other are ‘anti-national’.
The former Congress president called upon the people to ‘take steps to save the Constitution from a systematic attack’. We respect Babasaheb’s legacy. At the same time, we have to remember his warning that the success of the constitution depends on the behavior of those who have been given the responsibility to govern.
He alleged that the present government was misusing power, subverting the Constitution and undermining the foundation of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Instead, the abuse of power to oppress them has endangered liberty and undermined the basis of equality by treating them with ‘selective allies’. ‘ And by creating an atmosphere of hatred, brotherhood has also been ended and injustice is being increased by putting pressure on the judiciary by running a continuous campaign.
