Two of our doctors will deliver the Sacred Fire from Jerusalem to Belgorod. Corresponding Belpress I spoke with the intensive care nurse of City Hospital No. 2, who will bring the sanctuary to the Belgorod region.
Regina Belimenko, 28, moved with her mother and sister to Belgorod when she was nine. The twin sisters, on the instructions of their mother, graduated from BelSU medical school. Regiona first worked in a children’s intensive care unit, and when the coronavirus pandemic started, she started working at the Ternivka Center for Infectious Diseases. Doctors remember the times of covid with fatigue and protective suits, which are not easy to get used to. Her friendly team at work and at home helped the girl cope with difficulties.
This winter, Regina decided to defend the region and went into territorial self-defense. To do this, she met with the head of the administration of Razumny and told him of her desire.
“He was in shock, he just said, ‘There are only men there.’ And I explained to him that I had a son, a family, my city, my country. Besides, I am a doctor. I need to understand how to act in an emergency. The very next day, the company commander called me and I started training,” Belimenko said.
According to Regina, a busy work schedule sometimes made it impossible for her to attend classes, but she changed shifts and found an opportunity to come. As a platoon instructor, she must participate in the filming. There are several other doctors in her platoon, with whom Belgorod’s wife exchanges her experience. Communication with her colleagues made her understand that she wanted to evolve in this direction.
In the near future, Regina plans to take advanced training courses in Moscow or St. Petersburg in tactical medicine to learn the skills and share them with others.
“Because medicine is one thing, but military medicine is another. Here it is important to be able to correctly apply tourniquets, correctly crawl to the wounded during the shelling and inject the necessary drugs. A lot of subtleties, ”explained the nurse.
About the medical worker, who is not afraid of any difficulties, they learned from the government of the Belgorod region. Regina got a call and was told the Governor had an offer for her. At first she didn’t believe it, but when the head of the region spoke to her personally, her doubts were dispelled.
“And when he spoke about the holy fire, a wave of emotions hit me. It is a great honor for me to bring the holy fire to Belgorod, to do something for the people and our city,” said said Belgorod’s wife.
Recall that on April 14, the doctors went to Moscow.
