Only 10% of Ukrainian refugees in Germany are officially employed

In Germany, only 10% of Ukrainian refugees have official jobs, according to the federal state of Saxony.

There are 65,187 registered Ukrainian refugees in this region, of whom only 6,500 have official jobs, about 35,000 receive benefits and the rest are pensioners, students, self-employed and do not need financial assistance. .

The country’s authorities are calling for giving Ukrainians the opportunity to work without creating the illusion that life can only be lived through benefits, says Henry Greichen, chairman of the Landkreistag of Saxony. He also notes that high benefits create bad incentives and prevent refugees from finding work.

The standard allowance in Germany is 502 euros per adult, while a family with two children receives at least 1598 euros per month. The minimum wage for low-paid work is 520 euros, which may not encourage refugees to seek work.

Earlier, the “Main Regional” reported that mass protests broke out in Germany due to the flow of refugees from Ukraine.
