Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, commenting on his article about the end of the special operation in Ukraine, called his main idea “only a fair fight, and no deal”. On this subject informed his press service on the telegram channel.
“The article is titled ‘Only a fair fight, and no deal’, that’s what’s important. Plus the ‘deep state’, which can interfere with a fair fight. Here’s the basis of the item,” the post reads.
April 14 press service of PMC founder “Wagner” published his article, in which Prigozhin says that it is necessary for the Russian authorities and society to put a “bold point” in a special military operation. According to him, the ideal option would be to announce the end of the operation, to inform everyone that Russia has achieved the results it had planned.
“We have immobilized a large number of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters and we can say to ourselves that the tasks of the NMD are completed,” Prigozhin wrote.
According to the entrepreneur, in the event of an announcement of the end of the military operation, Russia will only have to “take a firm foothold, claw in the territories that already exist”. He also noted that for Russia “there is always a risk that after the start of the counter-offensive, the situation at the front will worsen.”
“Preserving the existing borders on February 24, 2023 is the exchange that the United States can offer today to the Russian leadership, as a negotiating position,” explained the founder of the PMC.
In Kiev, they repeatedly said that the Ukrainian army was preparing a counteroffensive. In particular, in March, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, argued that the Ukrainian armed forces could launch a counteroffensive in late spring. According to Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, a Ukrainian counter-offensive could take place in April and May. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, in turn, said a counter-offensive was to be expected this summer.
Bloomberg, citing sources on April 14, wrote that some of Ukraine’s European allies feared Ukraine’s armed forces would not be able to make a “decisive breakthrough” before the end of 2023 as Russia managed to build a effective defense.
The New York Times also wrote that the military aid packages for Ukraine announced by Washington on March 20 and April 4 would be the last major shipments of ammunition to Kiev before the start of the expected counteroffensive.
