Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The US Congress has proposed restricting the President’s use of nuclear weapons

2 Democratic congressmen Ed Markey and Ted Lew have proposed limiting the US president’s use of nuclear weapons, reports RIA Novosti.

The bill has been submitted to Congress for consideration. It provides for an innovation that the President of the United States does not have the right to order the use of nuclear weapons without the consent of Congress.

“No president has the constitutional right or authority to unilaterally declare war, let alone launch a nuclear strike,” Markey said.

The bill’s sponsors believe that the law should create “checks and balances” on the powers of the President of the United States in the area of decision-making on the use of nuclear weapons.

Previously, the same members of Congress tried to submit a similar document to Congress in 2016, but to no avail.
