The Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Building Company (VASO) stopped assembling a new prototype Il-112V light military transport aircraft to refine the engine of the aircraft. This was announced during a briefing by the governor of the Voronezh region Alexander Gusev.
The head of the region clarified that production of the aircraft has been postponed until technical decisions are made and the design is complete.
At the same time, it should be noted that the actual freezing of the project occurred much earlier. The suspension of work on the project, due to the investigation of the accident with the first prototype, was announced six months ago by a representative of PJSC Il.
Recall that on August 17, 2021, a terrible tragedy occurred in Kubinka (Moscow region). The council was supposed to participate in the Army-2021 forum, but a technical malfunction prevented it. Then, as a result of the accident, the crew of three died.
As for VASO, recently the first unofficial photo of an unpainted flight prototype of the Il-96-400M wide-body long-range airliner appeared on the web from the workshop. Perhaps now the company will direct all its efforts to the development of this particular project, as a priority, in demand in the market and quickly implemented technically.
