After trying to break into the console market with Steam Machines, Valve released the Steam Deck. The device allows you to run many games from Steam. Steam Deck is a unique device that combines portability and performance.
Valve’s success is celebrated everywhere, but there are no real Steam Deck sales numbers yet. Previous reports from October 2022 indicated that over one million Steam Decks had been sold, but analytics firm Omdia provided some more interesting sales estimates.
According to Omdia, approximately 1.62 million Steam Deck units were sold in 2022, with plans to sell approximately 1.85 million units in 2023. Thus, by the end of 2023, total Steam sales Deck will reach 3.47 million units.
The company notes that more hardware makers are looking to release their own pocket PC hybrids that can also run SteamOS, a handheld-optimized operating system that runs on Steam Deck. ASUS has unveiled its ROG Ally laptop, whose performance will be significantly increased.
Valve said it is experimenting with new device concepts for a better PC gaming experience. New Steam Deck models are in development, but won’t appear anytime soon.
