Easter Services – Midnight Service, Procession, Easter Matins and the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom – on the night of April 15-16, 2023, Metropolitan Vadim of Yaroslavl and Rostov officiated at the Dormition Cathedral in Yaroslavl.
After the midnight service in the middle of the temple, before the shroud, the Holy Saturday canon was read. After the 9th ode of the canon, the Shroud was brought to the altar and placed on the altar, where it will remain until the end of Easter. Then begins the Easter procession, during which, to the song of the stichera, “Your Resurrection, Christ the Savior…”. together with Vladyka, the clergy marched around the Kazan church of the monastery.

After the sacramental verse, the Easter Epistle of His Holiness Patriarch Cyril of Moscow and All Russia was read. By praying outside the ambo, Vladyka consecrated the artos, leavened bread, which symbolizes the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives. The tradition of using the artos goes back to apostolic times.
