St. Petersburg scientists have proposed a new method for the treatment of tumor diseases. It is assumed that it will allow you to do without operations: you just need to make an injection.
The technology is based on the principle of gene therapy. It is already gaining popularity as a method of treating uterine fibroids. Today, this disease is most often treated with the help of surgical intervention, but this method often threatens patients with various gynecological diseases.
The finalists of the St. Petersburg University startup competition have developed technology that will minimize these risks, writes RG.ru. GenomeX project authors created a non-viral nucleic acid delivery system based on peptide transporters.
The patient does not have to undergo surgery. It will be enough just to make an injection in the area affected by the tumor. As the developers explained, this method of treatment can be used to treat not only uterine fibroids, but also tumors of other organs and tissues.
