After the killing of a child by dogs in Orenburg, the Kaluga authorities spoke about the fight against stray animals. As the correspondents of “The Eastern Herald in Kaluga” reported in the press service of the city government on Monday, April 17, this year 133 stray dogs were captured.

“In Kaluga, the state program for the treatment of stray animals OSVV (Trap-Sterilization-Vaccination-Release) is successfully implemented. In the first quarter of 2023, 133 stray animals were captured, 59 of them were released into their former habitat,” the press service said.

It should be noted that before release, a clinical examination report is drawn up for each animal. It indicates the absence of signs of aggression. The exact course of the search is not explained. Aggressive or aging animals are not released into their former habitat. They are transferred to a charitable foundation for the maintenance of life. Residents of Kaluga can leave their requests for the rapid capture of stray animals through the Kaluga Otlov online service. In addition, applications are also accepted by telephone: 70-11-06. On weekends and holidays, call: 777-112 – every day and 24 hours a day.

Currently, a list of places where it is forbidden to bring homeless animals has been legally approved. This includes the territories of children’s, educational, medical, sports institutions, parks, squares, mass recreation.

Also, the department of Gornohozyaystvo Kaluga monitors the state of the population of ownerless animals. The collection, processing and analysis of the data obtained during the implementation of the delegations of powers with provision to the Veterinary Commission are in progress.

Recall that on Sunday, April 16 in Orenburg, stray dogs bit a CE1 student in front of his friend. The children crossed the garages where they were attacked by a pack. A boy managed to escape and call for help. Unfortunately, the tragedy could not be avoided. The dogs bit the child.
