Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has taken the initiative to commission the Isar 2 nuclear power plant, which has been disconnected from the grid. He believes that as long as a complete switch to renewable energy is not possible, all types the energy should be used to the maximum.
In an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper on April 16, the head of the regional cabinet stressed that Bavaria was ready to take responsibility for the continued operation of nuclear energy. In addition, Söder stressed the need to build a local research reactor and develop nuclear fusion in the energy sector.
“Bavaria demands that the federal government transfers responsibility for the continued operation of nuclear energy to the states. Until the crisis is over and the transition to renewable energy sources has not been successful, we must use all types of energy until the end of the decade,” he stressed.
