Conspiracy by “China supporters” against Dalai Lama: CTA leader

New Delhi. Penpa Serig, a top politician of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in India, said the Tibetan people are hurt by the invectives made over the recent video involving the Dalai Lama and a boy. He termed these allegations as a “conspiracy by China supporters” to tarnish the image of the spiritual leader. Addressing a meeting of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia on Thursday, Sikyong (political leader) of the Central Tibetan Administration (government-in-exile) Penpa Serig alleged that China is forcibly ruling Tibet and trying to gain legitimacy from the international community.

Serig answered questions from people on a range of issues, including a recent video involving the Dalai Lama and a boy. The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, apologized over the matter on April 10. He had said that “he apologizes to a child, his family and friends if his words have hurt sentiments”. Significantly, in the video, the Tibetan spiritual leader allegedly asks the child to “suck his tongue”. have been After the video was circulated on social media, a controversy had arisen regarding it. Serig described this as loving behavior from an elder in the household and said that after saying this, the Dalai Lama also playfully played a “prank” with his tongue.

“It was for the entertainment of others. Now, who is the victim? The boy is not complaining, his mother is not complaining. The victim here is His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Seyrig said that the entire video needs to be seen to understand the context of the clip being broadcast. The alleged incident took place on February 28 at Suglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple in Mcleodganj. “In our investigation, we found that the attacks were initiated by pro-China groups, which explains their intention to circulate this video clip,” Serig said. .

He said, “It does not need to be clarified who will benefit from maligning the image, reputation and legacy of the Dalai Lama. Given the enormity of this conspiracy-driven smear campaign, the political side of the incident cannot be ignored. The Dalai Lama has lived an “unblemished life,” Serig insisted. He has walked on the path of compassion, non-violence and humanity throughout his life.
