Construction worker dies after falling down elevator shaft

In the Kirovsky district, investigators have completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 39-year-old man. A local resident was charged with a crime under part 2 of article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules during construction work, which negligently caused the death of a person).

It was established that in March 2022, the person involved in the case hired a 29-year-old Volgograd resident without registration. The young man was engaged in the construction of an object on Sanatornaya Street.

On May 3, a 29-year-old man dismantled the casing of an elevator shaft on the 6th floor of a building. The Volgograd man broke loose and fell into the elevator shaft. A local resident was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A few days later, the man died in a medical institution, the investigative committee of the ICR for the Volgograd region reported.

Investigation completed. The case materials have been sent to the prosecutor’s office for approval to consider whether to approve the indictment.
