On the 105th anniversary of the Soviet firefighters in Arkhangelsk, the memory of a man who gave 43 years of his life to save people from fire was immortalized. Yuri Vekha began his career as a district inspector, then for 20 years he headed the fire department of the internal affairs directorate of the Arkhangelsk regional executive committee. This was reported by the press service of the administration of the regional center.

The idea of ​​creating a memorial plaque was initiated by veteran firefighters, they found support from the leadership and staff of the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Head of the department Shakhobiddin Vakkosov stressed that a new generation of employees is being brought up on the example of Yuri Feofilovich.

During his career in the Arkhangelsk region, most of the current fire stations were built. Yuri Feofilovich has repeatedly participated in extinguishing large fires. For his courage in extinguishing a fire on June 10, 1988 at Solombala LDK, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
