According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the investigation of the criminal case against the former chairman of the Duma of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Alexander Maslov, has been completed. He is accused of having granted himself illegal bonuses. According to investigators, Maslov issued illegal orders from 2019 to 2021 on the establishment and payment of quarterly and annual bonuses for the results of his work, and decisions on the appointment of these bonuses were not made by the District Duma Council.
In December 2021, the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, said that Maslov had been charged with abuse of power and that the damage caused by his actions could amount to 12 .5 million rubles. Maslov was taken into custody, but did not admit guilt.
The court returned the criminal case to the prosecutor for approval of the indictment and subsequent referral to court. According to the clarifications of the investigation, the damage caused by Maslov’s actions amounted to more than 16.3 million rubles.
According to the investigative service, Maslov also illegally received quarterly bonuses and increased monthly bonuses, which is why he received a monthly supplement to his lifelong old-age insurance pension of 289,000 rubles more than expected. However, at the preliminary investigation stage, this additional payment was reduced.
The court seized Maslov’s property for more than 46 million rubles.
