Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

In Croatia, the court refused political asylum to refugees from Chechnya

A Croatian court has rejected the request of five refugees from Chechnya to grant them the status of political refugees and international protection. These people left Russia because they did not want to take part in the hostilities in Ukraine. This news was confirmed by the representative of the “Assembly of Chechens of Europe” Isa Daduev.

If this decision comes into force, the refugees could be deported to Russia. At the moment, they are in the center for migrants and the final decision on their fate has not yet been taken.

A representative of the ‘Assembly of Chechens of Europe’ said interpreters who took part in the trial said the refusal was given without any evidence and was based on the assumption that applicants for status were Islamist extremists .
