IPL 2023, SRH vs MI: Mumbai will look to maintain the winning streak against Sunrisers

Buoyed by the return of their star batsman Suryakumar Yadav to form, Mumbai Indians will look to maintain their winning streak against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Tuesday.

Both Mumbai and Sunrisers have won both their previous matches and will now be eyeing to complete the hat-trick of wins. Both these teams started the tournament with two consecutive defeats. The good news for Mumbai is that Suryakumar is back in form.

He scored 43 off 25 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai as his team won the match by five wickets. If Suryakumar’s innings was attractive then Ishaan Kishan’s aggressive innings was also excellent. They scored 58 off 25 balls and Mumbai would expect similar batting from both of them against Sunrisers as well.

The Mumbai team, which struggled in the first two matches, now looks balanced. Tilak Verma has been in fine touch while Cameron Green and Tim David have also made useful contributions when required. In the bowling department, experienced leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has done well while he has been well supported by youngster Hrithik Shokeen. However, Mumbai’s fast bowling attack lacks sharpness due to Jofra Archer not being able to play.

Archer’s elbow injury has emerged. In his absence, Riley Meredith is handling the fast bowling department in the last two matches. Mumbai handed Arjun Tendulkar and Dwayne Johnson their IPL debuts on Sunday and both are likely to feature in the playing XI in this match as well.

Sunrisers, on the other hand, have got two new heroes in the form of Harry Brook and Rahul Tripathi, who played a key role in their last two wins. While Brook finally lived up to expectations with a hundred against the Knight Riders, Tripathi scored a 48-ball 74 in the win against Punjab. Captain Aiden Markram made useful contributions from the other end in both these matches. He scored 50r37 in the last two matches.

Among the bowlers, spinner Mayank Markande has been the leading wicket-taker for Sunrisers with six wickets while Umran Malik, Marco Jansen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also troubled the opposition batsmen. Two twin brothers Marco and Duane can also face each other in this match.

Teams are as follows:

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Dewald Brewis, Tilak Verma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Vishnu Vinod, Cameron Green, Arjun Tendulkar, Ramandeep Singh, Shams Mulani, Riley Meredith, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Arshad Khan, Duane Janson, Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya, Raghav Goyal, Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Aiden Markram (c), Abdul Samad, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Abhishek Sharma, Marco Janson, Washington Sundar, Fazalhaq Farooqui, Karthik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, Adil Rashid , Mayank Markande, Vivrant Sharma, Samarth Vyas, Sanveer Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Dagar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akil Hosin and Anmolpreet Singh. The match will start at 7:30 pm Indian time.
