Jihadis wreak havoc in Burkina Faso, 40 security forces personnel were killed; 33 injured

Dakar, Senegal). At least 40 members of security forces have been killed and 33 others wounded in an attack by jihadist gunmen in the northern part of the African country Burkina Faso. Officials gave this information on Sunday. Six soldiers and 34 civilian volunteers who assisted the army were killed on Saturday afternoon near the town of Oahigouya, said in a statement by the Secretary-General of the Northern Territory, Kouilga Albert Jongo.

33 injured were admitted to the hospital where their condition is stable. He said the attack came amid rising violence in the conflict-torn country linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group. So far thousands of people have been killed in the incidents of attacks in the country and about two million people have been displaced.

Earlier this month, Islamic extremists claimed at least 44 lives in a series of attacks in the northern part of the country.
