Ukraine aims to join NATO. Now Ukrainian officials have formulated a new task to achieve this: to join NATO without receiving the so-called MAP – Membership Action Plan, which Kiev has been demanding from the West since 2008, writes RIA Novosti.
On Easter evening, Volodymyr Zelenskyy told how he would ask for “security guarantees” at the Vilnius summit. Kuleba supported the head of state, noting that Ukraine should be in the Alliance.
“If the allies decide that on the issue of NATO membership in Vilnius they will simply confirm the open door policy for the 130th time, then for Ukraine this is an unacceptable outcome of the Vilnius summit “Kuleba said.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also announced the need to transform the Black Sea into what the Baltic Sea has become – the Sea of the Alliance, and plans to achieve this by demilitarizing the Black Sea region.
The publication reports a disagreement between the positions of Kiev’s Western partners, who are struggling to formulate Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic prospects. Probably, the West is looking for an excuse to refuse accession to Kiev, using Hungary, which will be able to veto certain decisions.
