Russians know what learned helplessness leads to

Researchers from the social entertainment network Fotostrana.ru surveyed 7,000 Russians and found out what the habit of doing nothing leads to.

Learned helplessness syndrome is a state in which a person makes no attempt to improve the situation and trusts only in the impossibility of overcoming negative factors. Such attitudes arise as a result of a bad experience. As a rule, a person first tries to improve his life, but in the face of failure he gives up, becomes passive and helpless. Can this situation be corrected or is it just a matter of coming to terms and succumbing to negative circumstances? Researchers conducted a survey and found out from Russians what they thought about this issue.

45% of survey participants believe they should brag. “Forced impotence is the scourge of modern society. Many regularly encounter irresponsible parents, totalitarian teachers, inadequate leaders who manipulate others. Gradually, a syndrome of impotence is formed. That is, a person tries to study well, do his job, but at first parents suggest that it is pointless to jump over your head, they say, an oligarch will not leave never a middle-income family, then the boss makes it clear that you should focus only on your tasks and not try to show initiative. And then you have the feeling that all the efforts are in vain and that nothing good will happen. However, first of all, you need to pull yourself together and not succumb to someone else’s opinion. Be sure to congratulate yourself every day, even for the smallest victories. If it seems like the whole world is against it, smile and move on,” shares Eva.

33% of respondents are sure that it is necessary to plan their life. “Every day you need to set specific goals and objectives. Be sure to include a time frame. For example, clean up in half an hour or finish a report in the next fifteen minutes. Then it will be possible to competently plan your day to day and understand what time is spent on. Perhaps, at some point, give yourself more rest, and somewhere and force yourself in order to quickly finish the work you have started. If there are clear goals and objectives, then even the thought of procrastination will not arise. And at the same time, impotence will recede. Each time you have to say to yourself: “I can! “, ” I will succeed ! “. Then no one and nothing will be able to change this opinion the other way, ”says Irina. Experts agree with the woman and add that in any business it is important to tune in to a positive result and go towards the goal with a positive attitude.

22% of respondents say it is worth seeking support from loved ones. “Indigenous people are the best antidepressant. They will always understand and give the necessary and important advice. Even if there is an abuser in a close circle who has formed the preconditions for forced impotence syndrome and with whom communication must be limited, there will always be people who will support you and not allow you to give up and stop. Recently, many are increasingly turning to different types of psychologists and coaches, but this does not always lead to the desired result. The specialist basically only gives recommendations for a possible course of action. And then it depends on the person himself how he is going to do all this. And support is important here at any stage. Family and friends are among the best motivators. And with such a strong wall, any helplessness will move and cannot destroy life. This will only give impetus to development, ”says Vladislav.

As a result of the survey, researchers found that Russians know what learned helplessness leads to and how to deal with it.
