Prosecutor General Andrei Shved, the agency clarifies, agreed to conduct a special case against four Belarusian citizens – Bogovkov VS, Zueva MV, Ryabushko SP and Napreenko AV, who are outside the republic.
As appears from the documents of the criminal case, these people, motivated by political and ideological hostility, on December 19, 2021, deliberately damaged the facade of the building of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in London, thereby causing property damage on an especially large scale. Moreover, after waiting for three Belarusian diplomats to arrive at the scene of the crime, the defendants not only verbally insulted them, but also used physical violence against them.
The Attorney General’s office said these citizens of the Republic of Belarus have not yet been held accountable for what they did in the UK. And “to the repeated requests of the Belarusian side for legal assistance in a criminal case, as well as to the requests, official responses of the British Foreign Office and the Home Office regarding these crimes, the progress and results of their investigation have not been received,” added the supervisory authority.
At the same time, requests for the extradition of Bogovkov, Zuev, Ryabushko and Napreenko to put them on the path of criminal responsibility, addressed in March and June of last year to the competent judicial institution in the United Kingdom, remained unanswered.
Currently, the criminal case is being handled by the Main Investigation Department of the Central Bureau of the Republic Investigation Committee. By the way, these crimes are classified as serious – giving consent to conduct a special production is aimed at implementing the principle of the inevitability of liability for their commission, the agency concludes.
