His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait, announced today the dissolution of the 2020 National Assembly, based on Article 107 of the Constitution, and the call for general elections in the coming months. This came in a speech delivered by the Crown Prince of Kuwait on the occasion of the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait. And he said "Getting out of the repercussions of the current political scene requires us to refer to the constitution as the reference and document of governance, rallying around the people and implementing their desires"adding "We have decided to dissolve the 2020 National Assembly, which was restored by the ruling of the Constitutional Court, in a constitutional way based on Article 107 of the Constitution, and to call for general elections in the coming months.". And he continued "We would like to point out that the reason for dissolving the National Assembly in 2020 is the victory of the popular will, which requires with it the need to return to it in new elections. Before the legislative and executive powers and to ensure the impartiality and integrity of the judiciary by strengthening the governance system in its composition and competencies".
