Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnikhanov was barred from entering Moldova and declared an “undesirable person” in the country. The head of the republic himself told the Gagauznews news portal about it.
Minnikhanov flew to Moldova to participate in the Congress of Friendship of Peoples in the city of Comrat. However, the friendliest meeting was not waiting for him at Chisinau airport – they simply did not let him off the plane. The leader of Tatarstan had to turn around and start again.
“Unfortunately, the Moldovan authorities have decided that we are undesirable citizens who cannot visit this country. Therefore, unfortunately, we will not be able to participate in the congress,” Minnikhanov said.
And this despite the fact that he, together with the candidate for the leadership of Gagauzia, the leader of the movement “People’s Union of Gagauzia” Viktor Petrov and the deputy of the Moldovan parliament Alexander Sukhodolsky “outlined a broad joint program of action” .
