New Delhi. Wholesale Inflation In March: There has been a big relief on the inflation front. The Wholesale Inflation Rate (WPI) has come down to 1.34 percent in March. The wholesale inflation rate in February stood at 3.85 per cent. Whereas, in January this year it stood at 4.73%. In March 2022, the wholesale inflation rate was at the level of 14.63 percent. Wholesale inflation has reached a 29-month low in March. Let me tell you, recently the Reserve Bank had decided not to increase the repo rate due to rising inflation coming under control.
WPI declines for the 10th consecutive month The wholesale inflation rate has seen a decline for the 10th consecutive month. According to government data, the Wholesale Price Index stood at 4.73 per cent in January. Food index inflation declined to 2.32 per cent from 2.76 per cent in March. The inflation rate for the primary articles segment eased to 2.40 per cent in March. In February this year, it was at 3.28%.
food items became cheaper The decline in the wholesale price index continued to be attributed to the fall in the prices of basic metals, food articles, textiles, non-food articles, mineral rubber and plastics, crude petroleum & natural gas and paper & paper products. The inflation rate of wheat and pulses has been 9.16 percent and 3.03 percent respectively. The arrival of seasonal vegetables has brought great relief to the common man. In March, the inflation rate of vegetables was (-) 2.22 percent. In addition, the inflation rate for manufactured products stood at 1.94 per cent in February. Which has come down to (-) 0.77 percent in March.
