Budanov did not name the date of the Ukrainian counteroffensive

The head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, declined to answer the question about the dates and timing of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. His interview was published on April 17 in NV. He said he did not want to reveal Ukraine’s plans to Russian forces and added that a counter-offensive would be “incredible”.

Budanov also said that Russia has moved to a strategic defensive operation on almost the entire front in order to prevent the Ukrainian armed forces from regaining control of the territory.

When reporters reminded him of his 2022 forecast that Ukrainian armed forces would enter Crimea in the spring of 2023, Budanov replied that he still had time. He also pointed out that all his predictions have come true and everything is on schedule.

“Unfortunately, I cannot answer the question (about the details of the counter-offensive): not because I don’t know, but because it would be madness, if I do it now, I will reveal the plan to the Russians. He will be amazing,” he said.
