Margit Molnar, director of the China Policy Research Office of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, said in a recent interview with the Chinese news agency Xinhua that China will help revive the faltering global economy. Several international institutions have recently raised their 2023 economic growth forecast for China. Molnar said that after China adapted and adjusted its anti-epidemic policies, there has been a strong boom in consumption, and the demand for tourism services is also increasing. Chinese tourists are now gravitating towards international tourist destinations. He said that if global growth weakens, the Chinese economy could once again become the main engine supporting global growth.
Molnar observed that in the first three months of this year, China’s manufacturing purchasing managers’ index was in the expansion range for three consecutive months, and the economy has maintained the momentum of stabilization and recovery. He expects Chinese manufacturing activity to continue to expand, boosting economic growth. While China’s economy is developing steadily and healthily, new kinetic energy is also continuously infusing vitality.
