Hello dear editor!
I have a question regarding insurance. My son during a physical education lesson – playing with the ball, hit another child. As a result, the boy’s glasses fell off and broke. Glasses are expensive. We don’t have insurance. Glasses are not insured. The child’s mother is nervous about my son, believing that a foreigner cannot study better than the son of a local doctor. (My child is at the top of the class in university, plays sports and plays the cello). Mama is trying to join us money for points , as well as financial compensation for the time she has to go to the doctor with her child and look for glasses. Does the school have insurance? Are these cases insured? If not, does it take into account that the glasses were not new. Thanks for the consultation.
With great gratitude,
Irina T., Oldenburg
- Dear Irina!
The situation your child is in is quite common. Thus, during school events (courses, excursions, as well as breaks), students are insured in accordance with the procedure established by law (Compulsory insurance for schoolchildren of accidents, gesetzliche Unfallversicherung). For parents, this type of child insurance is free. Contributions to the insurance fund are paid by the State. This insurance covers costs related to incidents during certain school activities. In this case, the parents of a child whose glasses have been broken during a PE class should contact the school administration and submit an appropriate request to cover the costs associated with the purchase of new eyeglasses. The application will be submitted to the insurance company, whose employees will check the insured event and inform the applicant exactly what expenses and under what conditions will be paid.
