New Delhi: According to the data released by Ireland’s Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment for the first three months of 2023, Ireland has given the highest number of work permits to Indian nationals at around 40 per cent. Of the 7,264 work permits issued to third country nationals, 2,894 were granted to Indian nationals from January to March 31. In January alone, 2,525 of these permits were issued. About half of these 1,059 were given to Indian nationals.
India is followed by Brazil and the Philippines in the second and third places with 734 and 663 permits in the first quarter of 2023. Out of a total of 494 rejected applications, the highest number was from India at 113, followed by Brazil at 80. The data shows that 165 applications were withdrawn before a final decision was taken.
2,428 visas were granted for health and social work activities and 1,095 for information and communication activities. Ireland, a country with a population of five million, is facing a labor shortage.
