Msheireb Museums hosts the second episode of the "Earth Conversations Series" Entitled "Islam and the Environment"

Msheireb Museums, the leading cultural and tourism destination in Msheireb Downtown Doha, in partnership with the Arab Youth Climate Movement in Qatar, hosted the second session of the Earth Conversations series under the title "Islam and the environment" And that in the house of Bin Jelmud. It discusses various topics related to sustainability and climate. The session dealt with an introduction to Islamic environmental ethics, its practical applications, and its role in addressing the climate crisis. The session witnessed speeches by Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Sada, Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, HE Mr. Timmy Davis, Ambassador of the United States of America to the country, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Nama, Director of Msheireb Museums, followed by a presentation by Mr. Mark Bryant, Senior Advisor at the Foundation. During his speech, Engineer Ahmed Muhammad Al-Sada said that protecting the environment is a major and important aspect of Islam and other religions, stressing the responsibility of Muslims to protect the environment proactively. He added the Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change "Protecting the environment is essential in the Islamic faith, and humanity has a great responsibility in protecting nature. We must take the necessary measures to ensure the preservation of our environment and the dissemination of this culture to future generations in the best possible way.". In turn, Abdullah Al-Nama, Director of Msheireb Museums, stressed the role of Msheireb Museums in raising awareness and spreading the culture of sustainability among members of society, adding "The Earth Talks series represents sessions rich in information and ideas, and this second session revolves around environment, Islam and practical applications to be followed to face climate challenges. It is important to talk in depth about the intersection of values ​​between the environment and religion, and we must all take positive steps to create a sustainable future.". For his part, Mr. Mark Bryant (Abdullah Bryant), senior advisor at the Islamic Foundation for Environmental Sciences in the United Kingdom, gave a presentation that showed the importance of the environment and its preservation in the Islamic religion and Quranic teachings. And he said: "Islam has a great interest in the environment and correct practices, and Islam basically urges this and encourages Muslims to follow appropriate practices to preserve the materials. Muslims must pay attention again to this matter because it is part of their faith, and we must focus on this aspect of our lives to save ourselves and our planet and to practice our religion in a correct manner.". He pointed out the importance of the Earth Talks series to learn from the past and benefit from it in the future, and added: "I feel happy to be here at Msheireb Museums in Qatar to exchange ideas and visions, and I am confident that these dialogues will help us spread positive messages to the community.". The Earth Conversations series has previously been held at Qatar National Library and Qatar Foundation. The talks attract a wide spectrum of society members, intellectuals, thinkers, and those interested in environmental and sustainability issues. The talks come within the framework of Msheireb Downtown Doha and Msheireb Museums’ commitment to spreading the culture of sustainability and raising awareness of it, promoting dialogue on environmental issues and climate change, and working to provide appropriate solutions to these challenges. The Earth Conversations series is organized by the Arab Youth Climate Movement in Qatar and Msheireb Museums. The sessions bring together prominent speakers from around the world, opinion leaders, thinkers and decision makers, and prompt discussions about the changes and transformations that our societies are witnessing in order to achieve a sustainable future.
