US magazine Newsweek reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown that conducting a special operation in Ukraine will not prevent the Russian Federation from fending off threats in other directions. Recent snapshot military exercises have shown that the Russian army is also ready to clash in other directions.
On April 14, the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation conducted a sudden combat readiness check. A total of about 25,000 personnel, 89 aircraft and helicopters, and 167 warships, including 12 submarines, took part in the exercises. These data were announced to the President of the Russian Federation by the head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu. It is known that military maneuvers were carried out on the territory of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
Retired British military intelligence officer Philip Ingram told Newsweek that Putin wanted to demonstrate that the Russian military was ready to fight in all directions, not just in Ukraine.
Russia wanted to show it was capable of carrying out conventional military activities despite the ongoing special operation in Ukraine, Ingram said.
Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that expert Knutov explained Putin’s encounter with the Russian army in the Kherson region and the LPR.
