The report, prepared by Roscongress, indicates that the emergence of a new currency capable of competing with the dollar and the euro in the world market is possible no earlier than 2035-2040.
According RIA Novosti, experts estimate that the dollar’s position in the world economy remains solid and that it now represents 58% of the world’s official foreign exchange reserves. However, the report notes that with the growing political independence of countries in the Middle East and Latin America, efforts are intensifying to create their own monetary unions, which will focus not only on the US dollar or the euro, but also on the currencies of other countries in the world.
The authors of the report also point out that the topic of the single currency is regularly discussed within the EAEU, but the conditions for its creation have not yet been created. A full-fledged monetary union, according to experts, is the final stage of economic integration and involves the creation of customs and migration associations, as well as the formation of a common financial and labor market. The report notes that the formation of a single market for goods is at an advanced stage, but that much remains to be done on the road to financial integration and the creation of a single market for capital.
